The blocked route and broken bridges due to heavy rains have now been fixed to resume the suspended Chardham yatra. The stranded devotees at several places have also been evacuated by air-lifting and other means.
Chief Minister Harish Rawat said, “The affected places by the rainfall have been fixed and route is now open for small vehicles. Broken bridges have also been repaired.” Kedarnath yatra was disrupted on June 27 and June 25 owing to bad weather conditions. Some major bridges also broke down because of the heavy rainfall. As a result of which he pedestrian path to Kedarnath incresed 21 km from 16 km. The yatra to Kedarnath is currently under control. For Juy 1 a footbridge at Sonprayag will be used for pilgrims to help reach Kedarnath.
