Devprayag is a small town in the Pauri Garhwal District of Uttarakhand near Rishikesh. Devprayag is situated at a height of 2,700 feet, famous as the place where the River Ganga first takes its form – resulting from the confluence of the Bhagirathi and the Alaknanda Rivers. In Sanskrit ” Devaprayaga” means “Godly Confluence”. Adventurous Activities such as trekking and river rafting can also be done at Devprayag.
This region is a hotspot for pilgrims, as the entire place is considered very sacred and holy by Hindus. The town is located in a region which serves as a junction for the rivers Bhagirathi and Alaknanda. The beautiful town is also a hit among tourists, who find solace it its very picturesque and green surroundings and visit the many temples there to get a taste of the local culture. Devprayag is the home of the late Acharya Shri Pt. Chakradhar Joshi who established Nakshatra Vedh Shala in the year 1946.
Lord Rama and King Dashrath are also believed to have did penance here. Baitalshila is a bath at Devprayag that can cure leprosy. According to the Vaishnavite clan, Devprayag is one among the 108 Divya Desams or the sacred abodes of Lord Vishnu. Traditionally, it is considered to be the place where sage Devasharma led his ascetic life, giving birth its present name, Devprayag. It is one of the five sacred confluences in the hills and is an important place of pilgrimage for Hindu devotees.
CharDham Yatra and Dev Prayag (Deoprayag)
Devprayag is a convenient stopping point from Rishikesh enroute to destinations further north in Uttarakhand, including Badrinath, Kedarnath during Char Dham Yatra. The town of Devprayag can be reached easily through buses and trains, and cabs can be taken from the nearest railway station in order to reach Devprayag. Buses are the locally preferred mode of travel, and trains come in a close second.

Chandrabadani Temple: The Chandrabadani Temple at Devprayag is dedicated to the Goddess of Shakti / Power. Outside the temple one can find many old statues and iron Trishuls.
Raghunathji Temple : The Raghunathji Temple, dedicated to Lord Ram, is believed to be one of the oldest temples in India. The temple is pyramidal in shape and made of stone.

Therefore all the buses and vehicles that carry pilgrims from New Delhi to Badrinath via Haridwar and Rishikesh. The road distance from Rishikesh to Devprayag is 74 km
