Keeping a close eye on the protection of environment in Sanctuary region, the district administration imposed complete ban on polythene use in Sonprayag. Before this, administration declared ban on pedestrian path of Kedarnath. Administration will make eco carry bags available at different places for the travellers. DM Dr. Raghav Langar told along with tight security arrangements the initiative for protecting environment has also started. For the conservation of environment this region is extremely important.

Taking this into account one of the stage of Kedarnath, Sonprayag and places beyond it are listed under complete polythene ban. Pilgrims going for yatra may take their belongings using eco carry bags. The bags can be purchased from all major centres of GMVN food outlets at a reasonable cost of five bucks. Besides this awareness will be spread by the deployed workers about the effects of non-biodegradable substances in eco-sensitive zones.
