This year during the entire Chardham Yatra, polythene has been completely banned in the valley. Even the pilgrims will not be able to take the plastic raincoats ahead of Gaurikund. Raincoats made of clothes will be provided to the pilgrims on rent at very cheap rates in Gaurikund.
Rudraprayag DM Mangesh Ghildiyal said that the plastic has been completely banned in the valley during the entire Chardham Yatra. If any plastic items found from any person, then he will be fined. Mangesh Ghildiyal also informed that the raincoats made from clothes will be provided to the pilgrims on behalf of the eco-development committee, Gaurikund. Passengers will take raincoat from Gaurikund while going to Kedarnath and deposit it while returning from Kedarnath. For this, the prescribed fee will be kept. Apart from this, the goods of any kind of plastic cannot be taken by Kedarnath.
