In view of the Chardham Yatra 2020, CCTV cameras will be installed on the identified landslide zones of other main connectivity routes including Rishikesh–Badrinath, Rudraprayag–Gaurikund, and Kund-Ukhimath-Chopta-Mandal Gopeshwar National Highway. All cameras will be linked to the District Disaster Control Room so that traffic can be restored in time if the highway is obstructed in adverse conditions. Under the All-Weather Road project, landslide zones are active at many places on the Badrinath and Gaurikund highways under construction.
DM Rudraprayag, Mangesh Ghildiyal said that it has been decided to install CCTV cameras on the landslide zone in view of the travel period. The cameras will be linked to the DDMO office. He also said that the concerned officials have been asked to report in 12-15 days after inspecting the highway and other routes so that arrangements can be made on time.
Apart from this, the CUG numbers will be provided by the administration to the Sector and Assistant Sector Magistrate to be deployed in the upcoming Kedarnath Yatra, so that the numbers remain unchanged and the passengers can be contacted easily. Along with this, the Chardham Travel Cell has been constituted by the District Magistrate, for which the District Tourism Officer has been appointed as the Nodal Officer. Along with this, five other personnal will also be posted, who will report and monitor the entire travel arrangements.
