The Uttarakhand Govt have decided to open all the temples of Char Dham in April or Early May of 2014, except Kedarnath for pilgrims. All the other three dhams: Badrinath, Gangotri and Yamunotri are fully accessible with all the facilities for pilgrims and tourists.
The exact dates of opening of Char Dham temples will be decided and announced soon.
Kedarnath area along with the route which covered Gaurikund and Rambara were devastated in the recent floods of 2013. It will take some time for Govt to establish the routes, roads and other facilities for pilgrims on this route. However, once open pilgrims can reach the Kedarnath temple via helicopters and mules. As per the latest updates the trek will now start from Sonprayag and one has to trek 24 kms instead of 14 kms.
