In view of the situation in Covid-19, the Uttarakhand government has canceled the Char Dham Yatra for 2021. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat has said that only the priests in the four temples will complete the puja and the traditions related to it.
The gates of the Kedarnath temple included in the Char Dhams were to open for devotees on May 17, while those of Badrinath Dham were to open on May 18. At the same time, the temples of Gangotri and Yamunotri were to open on 14 May. A lot of excitement was seen this time around Chardham Yatra, because last year too, the yatra was canceled due to Corona crisis. This time the advance booking was done keeping strict corona protocol.
Last year too, the Uttarakhand government had banned the Char Dham Yatra keeping in mind the corona epidemic. After this, the state government started the Char Dham Yatra for the devotees from July 1. In the last week of July 2020, the state government allowed devotees from other states to visit the Char Dham Yatra with certain conditions.
