Uttarakhand government said on Tuesday that due to non-completion of preparations, at present the Chardham Yatra is not being opened for the local people. Earlier, on Monday, it was decided to open the Chardham Yatra for the local people.
In this regard, State Cabinet Minister and Government Spokesperson Subodh Uniyal said that the Chardham Devasthanam Board has informed that the preparations are not yet complete to start the Char Dham Yatra and for this the Board has sought 15 days’ time. Uniyal said, “As soon as our preparations are complete, we can decide to open the Chardham Yatra partially or completely. However, it will depend on the circumstances of that time.
In the decision taken on Monday, the residents of the districts where the Char Dhams are located were allowed to visit the temples with a negative RT-PCR COVID-19 test report and it was said that for residents of Chamoli district can visit Badrinath Dham, residents of Rudraprayag district can visit Kedarnath and the residents of Uttarkashi district can visit Gangotri and Yamunotri.
