In the memory of the lost souls of June 2013 floods forest cover has been planted in Rishikesh. In accordance to this event forest festival has also been organized. On Sunday, Forest and Environment Minister Mr. Dinesh Aggarwal planted a rudraksha tree to pay tribute to the dead souls.
The Forest Mininster told forests should be protected to maintain the environmental balance. He stated this is the best tribute which should be given to those who lost their lives in the floods. He said development is necessary, but with development it is the responsibility of every citizen to protect the environment.
Environmental activist Mr. Bhuwan Chandra told the forests are dedicated to the lost souls of 2013 floods. The forest cover have been made from the plants and trees which are presented to Lord Shiva. Rudraksha, Bel, Dhatura and Kaner plants have been planted. Local Legislator Mr. Premchand Aggrawal had also planted a tree to pay homage to dead souls.
