A new road will be built from Gangotri to Kedarnath to make Chardham Yatra easier. This road will be made from Bhatwadi to Triyuginarayan. The length of the road will be 94 km. After the construction of the road, the distance from Gangotri to Kedarnath will be reduced by 144 km. For the road, a survey of about 45 km from Bhatwadi of Uttarkashi to Budhakedar of Tehri has been completed. Now instructions have been given by PWD to conduct survey from Budhakedar to Triyuginarayan.
At present, from Gangotri to Kedarnath Dham, pilgrims have to travel about 354 kms via Gaurikund. With the construction of the new road, this distance will be reduced to about 210 kms. With the construction of the road, the distance from Gangotri to Kedarnath will be reduced by about 144 km. After the construction of the new road, a new tourist circuit is expected to come up in the area.
RK Sudhanshu, Principal Secretary, Public Works Department told that the budget was approved for the survey of a part of the proposed new road to reduce the distance from Gangotri to Kedarnath Dham. Now instructions have been given by the Public Works Department to conduct a complete survey from Bhatwadi to Triyuginarayan. This route will reduce the distance from Gangotri to Kedarnath by 144 kms.
