The Uttarakhand government is leaving no stone unturned to make the Chardham Yatra easy and safe for the devotees. In this sequence, the Uttarakhand government is preparing to launch the “Meri Yatra” mobile app. Meri Yatra mobile app provides information about Chardham Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri, Yamunotri, Hemkund Sahib, and Mansarovar. Pilgrim can also find nearby locations of each Dham with the tabs e.g. ATM, Bus service. This app will also give information about the Accident Potential Spots of Uttarakhand. This app will be connected to Google, which will alert the driver about dangerous turns through a beep about 400 meters in advance. So that the danger of coming can be avoided. This app is set to launch on 31 January 2020.

“Meri Yatra” mobile app will launch on 31st January

The Traffic Directorate and the SDRF (Disaster Response Force) have prepared the ‘Meri Yatra’ app. In the app, there is information about Chardham Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri, Yamunotri, Hemkund Sahib, and Mansarovar. Pilgrim can also find nearby locations of each Dham with the tabs e.g. ATM, Bus service.

This app will also give information about the Accident Potential Spots of Uttarakhand. This app will be connected to Google, which will alert the driver about dangerous turns through a beep about 400 meters in advance. So that the danger of coming can be avoided. Currently, this app will have information about 673 blind turns in 13 districts of the state. The Directorate of Traffic believes that people coming from other parts of the country to Chardham Yatra or other tourist places do not have knowledge of the sharp turn of the mountains. When the vehicle is at high speed, there is a possibility of accidents on these dangerous turns. Keeping this in mind the App is very useful for all the travelers coming to Chardham or any other places of Uttarakhand.

Cause of Accident

There are several causes of accidents in Uttarakhand as it is Hill Area so it is not easy to drive here. Some of the basic reasons for the Accident in Uttarakhand are like:

  • Deep ditch, but not parfait
  • The bad and narrow road
  • Sharp double twist
  • Debris on the road
  • Curved and blind band
  • Landslide
  • Falling stones from the hill
  • Bumpy roads

  • Steep hill and sharp turn

The intention behind the preparation of ‘Meri Yatra’ mobile app is to give all the necessary information of Chardham Yatra to all the devotees. Meri Yatra app provides every necessary information for Chardham Yatra including the map, about Chardham, Chardham Registration, emergency services, reaching services, basic needs, and Uttarakhand visiting places. This app will also help to reduce the risks of accidents with tourists coming from all over the country. The app will be directly connected to Google. Google will alert the driver about dangerous turns through a beep about 400 meters in advance. About 673 accident-prone spots are being uploaded on Google.
