The Health Department has taken the initiative to prepare for the famous Chardham Yatra which is going to start from May 07. Over the years, hundreds of people lost their lives in the high-altitude areas due to cardiac arrest and heart attack. The Health Department has decided to make two oxygen chambers in Badrinath and Kedarnath for the first time. In such a situation, devotees can go to these centers and keep themselves normal.
Badrinath-Kedarnath Dham is situated at an altitude of about 11 thousand feet. Every year thousands of such devotees visit the temple, who have heart disease or respiratory diseases. Because of which they have difficulty in breathing at higher altitude. Figures show that during the Chardham yatra in 2017, 112 people lost their lives and 106 people died in the year 2018. Most of them died due to heart attack, Blood Pressure, Diabetes, and asthma. The department has been taking lessons from the incidents in the last few years. Director General of Health Dr. Ravindra Thapliyal said that for the first time hyperbaric chambers are being made in Badrinath and Kedarnath. Oxygen pressure will be kept maintained in it.
This time 30 specialist doctors will be deployed on Chardham Yatra route, while 84 doctors are being deployed under the rotation system. Telemedicine facilities in Kedarnath, Badrinath, and Augustmuni will also be provided to the devotees.
