As the weather worsens, once again the snowfall has started in high altitudes of Uttarakhand including Chardham shrines. The Char Dhams – Badrinath – Kedarnath, Yamunotri – Gangotri has received heavy snowfall while the lower areas received rain. Villages in high altitude areas have covered with a white sheet of snow. Along with Hemkund Sahib, Valley of Flowers, Neeti Valley, other high peaks also received snow. Badrinath, Kedarnath receives good amount of snowfall while half a foot of new snow has fallen in Yamunotri –Gangotri. Fresh snowfall result in drastic drop in the temperature of Chardham and nearby places.
Gangotri-Yamunotri and Badrinath-Kedarnath Dham received snowfall in last few days. Gangotri Yamunotri Dham are also covered with snow. A white sheet of snow was spread in Mukhba and surrounding area in Gangotri Valley. On the other hand, Badrinath Kedarnath recieved 3-4 feet of snowfall.
Snowfall has also affected the works in Kedarnath. Apart from this, other high peaks including Hemkund Sahib, Valley of Flowers, Neeti Valley also received snowfall.
The Saptasringa peaks around Hemkund, situated at an altitude of 15225 feet, are completely covered with snow. Much of the snow has accumulated above Ghangharia, the main stop of Hemkund Sahib. Due to which the army personnel can face heavy problems in removing snow from the Hemkund Yatra route. Hemkund Sahib and Lokpal Laxman Temple doors are to open on 10 May this year.
