Bharat Mandir in Rishikesh

Is one of the oldest temples in the country, built in the 12th century by the Hindu saint Adiguru Shankracharya. This temple is dedicated to Bharat, Lord Ram’s younger brother; it is located in the ancient town, near to Triveni Ghat. Shri Shankaracharya established this temple around the 9th century. The Bharat temple is located on the banks of the Ganga in the centre of Rishikesh. The sacred location of this temple contains a figure of Lord Vishnu carved above a Saalagram.
