Each year the shrine of Kedarnath gets closed for winters and the palki of Lord Kedarnath move to Ukhimath’s Omkareshwar Temple. Following the legendary tradition, the date of opening is decided on the occasion of Mahashivratri. The temple committee has started preparation to declared the auspicious day of Kedarnath opening.

The temple committee official told that on the day of Maha Shivratri, various priests present in Omkareshwar Temple will calculate Panchang and then declare the auspicious date of opening of Kedarnath Dham for 2021.

On the other side, Badrinath dham opening date has been decided and schedule to open on 18 May, 2021. There has been a tradition of first opening of Kedarnath temple before Badrinath temple. The Kedarnath temple opening day depends on auspicious time of Akshay Tritya and this year it is going to fall on 14 May 2021. So most probably it will be going same day for opening of Kedarnath temple.
