Nehru Institute of Mountaineering (NIM) has started to clear snow from Kedarnath trek route. Deeply involve restructure and reconstruction of Kedarnath after the 2013 floods, NIM is removing snow from the trek route to Kedarnath. The route to Kedarnath is 16 kms and most of the parts is snow covered and has glacier too. The tedious task of clearing of snow is started from 15 April and complete by 23 April.
More than 8 points has snow blocking the route to Kedarnath. Over 70 personnel are working continuously for removing snow. Along with trek route, the road route between Sonprayag-Gaurikund is working properly and pilgrims have to take shuttle service for 5 kms strech. There is a parking facility available at Sonprayag for tourist vehicles.
